with a picture of his Coupé.
"Greeting from Christchurch, New Zealand - it has been a while and much
has happened. As you will know the city has been shaken and definitely stirred
by many earthquakes but fortunately we have been spared too much damage and
I have been able to get on with restoration of the coupe. Have completed a
motor recondition and refurbishment under bonnet and rust removed from front
guards"

Dear Norman and friends,
I thought you might be interested in the attached picture, sent by a friend
of mine in Los Angeles. We visited California earlier this year and stayed
in the town of San Louis Obispo, between LA and San Francisco with our friend
from LA. Since then he discovered this photo of a car dealership in San Louis
Obispo, specialising in imported cars, principally Borgwards. He tells me
the large American cars in the 'used car lot' are '57 models, so that dates
our picture accordingly.
Kind regards, Tony Stokoe
Norman had 2 cars at the N.E.C. Classic Motor Show this year and they created a lot of interest.
Norman's Coupé was a Classic Car Weekly Favorite chosen by Dave Richards in the Wednesday 16th November issue.
Norman's Isabella saloon also is in the Full Report section with another picture.

Nick Waite takes possession of his Coupé from Matt Byrne, Cork
"As a new member to the club I thought you might like to see a picture of the 1960 coupé I have just collected. I bought the car sight unseen on Ebay some weeks ago & finally made the trip from Kent to Cork at the weekend to collect it. In the picture is Matt Byrne – the previous owner, & myself – I’m the younger looking one!
It’s been off the road since the early 80s but has been stored in a garage. The floor needs replacing & there are a multitude of small areas of rust around the car. Having said that I have tackled much worse projects in the past & although I have a Mk1 Cortina to complete before starting on the Coupe I intend to have it done for next Spring/Summer & then to use it on a daily basis. The previous owner had owned the car since 1975 & having changed the colour from blue to cream then used it for some years, I gather he was a member of the club – there’s a club sticker in the windscreen so maybe some of the more long standing members will remember it being on the road!
I did also get quite a few spares with the car which I will be keeping hold of while I establish what I need to complete the restoration, once I know exactly what I need but they include an engine, gearbox, front sub frame with hubs, rear axle, dash board with instruments (not clock) and various of the wooden window trims, all in need of restoration. Any members who need any parts desperately are welcome to contact me if they are interested in anything.
My immediate priority s to get the engine running properly (allegedly it does start but I haven’t heard it yet!) and get the clutch functioning so that I can at least move it in & out olf the garage.
I look forward to meeting other members once I’m up & running!"

Borgward RS 1500 prototype chassis with pictures on the wall above showing development and racing.
This is the last Isabella Coupé shell to be produced in Bremen and has been in storage since 1962. The shell was cleaned and sprayed for Essen.
The shell has one very interesting feature, a facility for the installation of a split prop shaft
How the centre was supported is not known but the rubber mounting may have simply been pushed along the tube, the access hole being used for greasing.
